Johnathan B. Fields, Jr., the senior pastor of Tabernacle of Praise, SDA Church, was born in Brownsville, TN, and is a native of Indianapolis, IN. He is one of six siblings.

After one year and five months of service in the U. S. Navy, the Lord ordered Johnathan’s life in a different direction. With the Holy Spirit working mightily in his life, Johnathan was impressed to attend church with his sister in Berrien Springs, MI. After several months of sitting on the back pew, Johnathan was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

While living in the Michiana area, Johnathan accepted his calling to ministry and enrolled at Andrews University as a Theology Major. Johnathan later transferred to Oakwood University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies. And went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies from Oakwood University (MAPS Program).

Johnathan has been blessed to minister in many capacities such as conducting a 2 ½ week evangelistic series with Global Ministry and Oakwood University Theology department in Blantyre Malawi, Africa. Johnathan was a speaker for the Atlanta Evangelistic Preach-out, he has also done mission work with the South Atlantic Conference of SDA churches and Mid-American Union Community Service in the Grand Bahamas. He has partnered with Second Harvest Food Distribution Center, serving fresh produce to hundreds of families.

Johnathan is married to the former Melody L. Thompson who is a daughter of the Central State Conference and grew up at the Berean SDA church here in St Louis, MO. They have been blessed with six wonderful and bright children, five daughters and one son. One son thru marriage and anxiously await the arrival of the grandson.

Johnathan is desirous to minister to the church of today until Christ returns. He values young people and encourages all youth to put God first. He also prays that his life would lead others to Christ.
